Kitchen Trash Can

It doesn't look like much but I'm excited. This is the first time I've taken tool to wood in over two months. My right foot is still gimpy but getting better, enough that I can work short periods in the shop and even take Sweet Maggie Dog for a short morning walk.

This is part of the 60 BF of Alder I bought a few days ago to make shop cabinets. I'm stealing a little to make a kitchen trash can for MsBubba.

Here are the blanks waiting to be processed and glued up into panels:

It should be a quick project, just rabbets and nails for joinery and some oil to finish.

    1. Ralph,

Yes it does but my endurance is pretty limited. So far this morning I've prepped just four boards and I'm back inside drinking coffee. I need to get a photo or video of the Steve Voigt jointer working. It is a thing of beauty. Easy to set and holds the set, light and just glides over the wood.

    1. Bob,

Ain't that the truth, a sure kiss of death. I'm taking it easy, I have six weeks to finish a two or three day project. More famous last words, should be a piece of cake :-).

Of course the monkey wrench is I'm back strapping a Sim to my butt for a few more months, that is if they don't piss me off before then.

  3. Glad the wheel is better enough to allow you some shop time. Would like to see that Voigt jointer sometime. Up here in NorCal, we're getting some of your style of weather - 100°F+. And the air quality is lousy due to the fires. And we have no A.C. because it's not usually that hot. Makes it tough to get anything done.

    1. Matt,

I saw someplace in Northern CA had a temp of 121F. All I can say is WOW.

We had what I assume was some of your smoke over the last couple of weeks, even from this distance it makes breathing tough.

Good luck and take care. Remember there is always an extra bed in Casa Chaos if you get run out N CA.
