New Philly Plane

I just received an email from Phil that my smoother is ready to ship. It should be in hand in a couple of weeks. In the mean time here's a photo:

  1. Looks like you have a plane problem to go along with your saw problem.
I'm working on mine - I've got a small panel raiser from Philly planes.

  2. That's some beautiful wood. Congratulations on the top notch plane you are about to receive. A Philly plane or two is on my short list. If you don't mind saying, how long was the wait?

  4. Ralph,

It's embarrassing at times, but yeah: My name is Ken and I have a tool problem.

My excuse is I want to see if a top level wood stock plane will perform better than my shop made planes. I'm half hoping it will not because if it does my retirement can gets kicked on down the road a couple of years.

  5. Jamie,

Thanks, I'm not sure because with things like this I just send a deposit and forget about it until they let me know it's ready but as best I can recall about three or four months.
