Passing a Kidney Stone

The afternoon of 12/31/2021 was painful with intense lower belly pain and every time the pain peaked a tossing of cookies, soon to be just dry heaves because there was nothing left to toss. At the time we hadn't a clue why, there was a slight chance of Covid but not likely. This morning after the dust had cleared MsBubba mentioned she thought it was a kidney stone as I had passed one several years ago with the same symptoms. I expect she is correct. BTW, you really do not want to pass stones, at times the pain on the 1 to 10 scale approaches a 9. It is a good thing I do not own a pistol or I would have been tempted several times last night to eat it.

BTW, it goes just as fast as it comes. Once the stone stops moving, the sky clears and the birds are singing.

What a way to end a shitty year. This morning is beautiful, maybe a sign we will finally rid our country of TFG, his cult will craw back under the rocks from which they came, and 2022 will be better. A guy can hope.

Happy New Year all.

See y'all on down the road,

ken

  1. Had not seen a post and thought you quit blogging or worse! Just read the unplugged thing and know why. Got you book marked.

    1. Marshal,

Thanks, Unplugged was too restricting. While I'm a woodworker there is more to life than the shop. We are still on post retirement travel but by Feb. we will be back in Tucson and time in the shop.

  2. Hi Ken

    Happy New Year.
Sorry to read about the Kidney stone, what a shitty way to end a shitty year indeed..
We are in New York, but due to covid we aren't allowed to go ashore or to have anybody some on board, so all our arrangements have been cancelled. Which is sad cause that is part of the fun of sailing a hip like this, that other people get to go on board and see the look in childrens eyes when they try to stand at the helm etc.
But those are just minor problems compared to those in some of the development countries, so I try to not bitch too much about it.

I hope that you and MsBubba will have a great 2022 with thousands of worry-free miles on the roads.
    All the best

    1. Thanks Jonas,

I'm just glad it was a kidney stone, painful but with an end point.

A shame to be in New York and unable to go ashore. Back in the day one of my favorite things wondering around the city when I could.

Same to you and yours, here's hoping 2022 is better.

    1. Thanks Steve,

There hadn't been much to post about other than boring "Camp Host in Oregon" things.

I hope it is at least as long before the next stone passes as this one was from the first. With luck I'll be dead before the next one.

  4. Ouch, Heather had many troubles with kidney stones. She often said, it is the closest man can feel what it is to give birth. I'll take her word for it, never experienced it...yet.

Happy new year and looking forward to your return in the shop :-)

Bob, fixing more power tools, sigh

    1. Bob,

I expect Heather was telling close to the truth, not that I've ever given birth.

We will be back in Tucson soon, maybe by this weekend or no later than the next and then it will be weeks of shop maintenance before any projects. Must say I'm looking forward to it. It is hard to believe we have lived over half the year in a 34'x 8' box.
