Posting miscellaneous photos from PhotoBucket.

Finial approach for landing EIOB in Sub-Saharan Africa (North Sudan)

The street where I lived in Kubul, Afghanistan. This is one of the better neighborhoods. The fighting in Afghanistan has been going on for so long there is not a wall or building that is not scarred or pockmarked by ordinance.

Even in war zones folks still live life, sometimes guarded by a guy with an AK47. Our helpers flying a kite in the back garden of our house in Kabul.

Last for the day, UD back in Tucson sawing a dovetail:

That's all for today, see you guys on down the road.

  1. How long did you stay in Kubul? Looks like a nice place for some family vacations (joking of course).

    1. Lionel,

One tour (6 months). At the time it was reasonably safe, we lived in houses like the one pictured. Not in compounds with little freedom to move about the city as is now the case. It was the Chinese "interesting times" or in other words something you were glad you did but never again.

Over the next few days I will post a couple more Afghan photos just to get them in a safe place.

Maggie gave me the look that said "I ride free or not at all" :-).
