Bench Shelf Installed

Installed a shelf on the long stretchers of the new bench. It is pretty much the same as the shelf on the shop Moravian, just a little shorter.

    from the other side:

Except for the end slats the slats are loose with a little "play" between slats. We are nearing the end of monsoon season which is our highest RH of the year so wood movement shouldn't be a problem.

This more or less finishes the bench. About the only other thing I might add is a tool rack on the back side of the slab. I'll live with the bench for a bit before deciding if a rack is needed.

  2. Damn Bob,

How many days is this you have been without power? How is your home and yard? If the beer is gone how's the whisky :-). I know lots of questions but having been through a few myself I know how disruptive they can be.

    Take care,

    1. Ralph,

While I do not like drawers or cabinets under my bench, a bench needs an area to hold jigs, hammers, and such.

      A shelf works for me.

    1. Bob,

Ouch, At least you are not on the Gulf Coast with temps in the 90's but it still sucks. I'm still surprised the storm had that much power as far north as you'll are. Good to know no major damage.

  5. We were lucky but lots of damages around us, why still no power. Update is now Friday 2100 :-(
Whisky and wine it is now. Make camp coffee taste better :-)
Spotty cell services, batteries are dying in towers. They have a hard time keeping up with dying towers.
Ran out of water in my rain barrels.
All my food in freezers kaput.
    Other than that, all good.
    Could be worse.

  6. Bob,

Thanks for the update. I wish there were something I could do to help but I expect there is not much other than wishing you well and have a small whisky while thinking about you and yours.
