The base is coming along, I finished fitting both top stretchers this morning. I've a need to run the streets for a couple of hours, Home Depot, Costco, pick up meds, and maybe some Vietnamese for lunch. I should finish the running around it time to start on the middle mortise and tenons this afternoon. There is a slight chance the bases will be ready for glue up Sunday. I wouldn't bet on it but maybe.

Ok so we are now Sunday, is it done yet ? :-)
ReplyDeleteAs I get some room back into my basement hand tools shop, I'm thinking, maybe its time for a bigger bench. The Morovian seems like a likely candidate, but don't hold your breath for it just yet...
So many things vying for attention...
Bob, with the amazing never ending to do list
Or maybe I should just commission you to built me one. Just air drop it across the street from me :-)
ReplyDeleteBob, still sipping coffee and a pile of braces to put back away
Bob,
DeleteIf I still had the Piper Pacer it would be no problem :-). In all your travels take an extra couple of weeks to enjoy Tucson sun and drive it home.

Bob,
ReplyDeleteI wish. I spent a good part of the day chopping the middle stretcher mortises, three down and one to go. I expect the fourth one will have to wait until tomorrow. By the finish of the third my arm was a noodle.
I know I'm a fanboy but I can see the Moravian bench replacing the Roubo as the "it" bench. After spending time with both there is no down side to the Moravian vs. the Roubo and a few things that are better like much cheaper to build and can be broken down easily to move. I find myself working on the portable bench much more than the main Roubo type bench except when I need the extra weight of the Roubo. The new bench should address that yet still be easily moved.
