eBay

I do not rust hunt often because truth be told I have too many tools and little need for others. That said I've become a fan of folding draw knifes and would like to add one to the stable. eBay had a Jennings 10" folding drawknife with a high bid of $22 USD and just a few hours to go that looked ok, not great but ok with not much pitting and the handles looked usable. I bid $25 USD and forgot about it, I just received a email from eBay that I missed out because the drawknife went for $122.50 USD. That's howling at the moon crazy.

Ebay prices are nuts. It's as if some people bought up all the tools and there are none left.

    1. Steve,

This was the fist time on eBay in awhile. My guess it will be the last for awhile :-).

  2. I used EBay for a while to acquired tools I did not seen around in my hunts. Stop doing it a while back, shipping and brokerage are utter ridiculous now :-(

I came across the odd folding draw knife in my travels but none taht was priced realistically. Just because its rusted and a tool, does not make them "In great shape for it age" Oh please...

Bob, having some troubles with his BP, its that time of the year :-(

    1. Bob,

Strange how my BP went down after the 20th :-).

Get the extra weight off helps. Stopping fast food helps with the weight. I lost 40 lbs since last Feb by just stopping the fast food, no other changes.

  3. The most funny with EBay is people using words like "vintage" and "rare". Recently I went over a bunch of Fuller chisels that you can find at a nearby hardware store for 10$ the set of 5 and the ad as labelled "vintage"!
I got some good tools though, but often not from people selling only woodworking tools, and like Bob mentioned, shipping fees are just insane now so either you find one seller from who to get many things that will be combined in one shipment or you pass on.

    1. Lionel,

I'm in the same "yes dear" club :-).

Very few of my tools have come from eBay, for those reasons. But if you can get 100+ USD for a not too great a draw knife it may be time to start selling some of my extras.
