Danger of JNATs

Because the best use of a JNAT is as a polishing stone if you are honest with yourself you need at most a couple of stones. Like with my Arkansas polishing stones I have three, a translucent, and two Hard Surgical Black stones. While there are very slight differences in feel of the stones there is little difference in performance and in reality I could get rid of any two with no problem.

JNATs are different in each stone is unique and because of their beauty acquiring JNATs can be addicting even approaching a sickness. as an example: Last night in answering a question I linked to a web site and to a stone that would be a good one to start with. Here is the link: Ohra Range Suita .

If you click the link you will see the stone is no longer available because it is on its way to Tucson. It is a sickness.

  1. Wooser, not cheap. Did a quick conversion on line :-)
But I'm sure it would be worth it.
Now get yourself one of those cheap USB microscope and you could see the differences each does :-)

  2. Bob,

But, but, it's pretty :-). When you realize to get a good edge all you need is a Med. India, a soft Ark plus a JNAT. The price ain't too bad if you consider a Shapton 30K is $650 USD and the JNAT will give a Better edge.

  3. True that Ken, besides name me a hobby that is cheap.... does not exist :-)

A sharper or better edge as we both know is a very suggestive thing, but the pursuit of such is priceless. (Disclaimer Jean reads my blog, she may run into this :-)

Jokes asides would love to see close up of the edges. Should be interesting.

LOL, I understand. I always work on it is better to beg forgiveness than permission. So far it has worked but it's been close a few times.

I've tried a couple of those USB microscopes and no joy. I may try again.

    1. Bob,

Did a quick glance and may do it. I've a couple of stronger than 10X hand loupes but there isn't any way to show what I see, hell it's hard to see what I see with them :-).
