I bought one from The Windsor Workshop in UK several months ago and in a cartoon world the blue birds would be singing and there would be rainbows in the sky. What a difference between it and the bevel down shaves like those made by LN or LV.
Bottom line I've been dealing with Dave's Shaves for a full set of wood body shaves. A full review once they arrive.

I have one from Woodjoy and it's great. Practically weightless.
ReplyDeleteI also have a vintage one that I've never used because the tang adjust was offputting to me. Very different experience from the bevel down variety.

ReplyDeleteI have the Woodjoy cigar shave. BTW, I'm not sure what is going on with Woodjoy, I looked at their site the other day and most of their tools were discontinued.

My all time favourite spokeshaves, the wooden variety are a different animal due to the different angle of attack.

3 weeks ago, Paul Sellers made a video "Spoke shave Q & A" which addresses wooden and metal spoke shaves.

DeleteI've been wanting to make a wooden spokeshave for a long time. Both Sellers and Bob Rozaieski have videos about making one. Sometime soon I hope ... Looking forward to your thoughts on the ones you order.
